Wayne County Summer Cluster Gathering

On Sunday, Sept. 25, the Wayne County Cluster of the Corbin District gathered at 4:00 pm at the Monticello/Wayne County Park for their quarterly gathering, and the 2 hour summer cluster was a wonderful picnic with lots of food and warm fellowship, followed by an outdoor worship service, with a time of congregational singing, praying, and Dr. Terry Faris, the Corbin District Superintendent, preached on the importance of family and deep relationships with people.

Over 200 people were present, with all the Pastors of the Wayne County Churches there, and every United Methodist Church in Wayne County was represented. In the photo left to right: Don Hiten - Officially Retired, but Pastoring the Simpson Memorial UMC in the Pulaski County Cluster, Jim Savage - Pastor of the Monticello/Locketts Chapel UMC and Leader of the Wayne County Cluster, Mike Radford - Corbin District Lay Leader, Judy Faris, Terry Faris, Steve Wheeler - Pastor of Mill Spring Charge (Meadow Creek/Tuttles Chapel/Ellers Chapel UMC), Earnest Mann - Pastor of the West Monticello Charge (Bethesda/Cabell Grove/Edwards Chapel/Keens Chapel UMC and Maker of the Wooden Crosses, Tom Dicken - Retired Pastor.

On behalf of the entire Wayne County Cluster, Mr. Mike Radford, Lay Leader of the Corbin District and Member of Monticello UMC, out of love and appreciation, presented Terry and Judy the "Circuit Rider" print, painted by Mr. Fred Thrasher in 1984. Only 1000 prints were produced and all were signed and numbered. None will ever be reprinted again. This is the same beautiful and historic painting that Mike Radford presented to Bishop James King at last years Corbin District "Bishop's Hour," as a gift of love and appreciation for Bishop King from the 9 county Corbin District in southeastern Kentucky.

The next quarterly gathering of the Wayne County Cluster will be on Sunday, Nov. 27, at 2:00 pm at the Monticello UMC. This will be the fall cluster gathering, and will be the Wayne County Cluster "Charge/Church Conference." Dr. Faris will be preaching that morning at 8:55 am at the Locketts Chapel UMC, and at 11:00 am at the Monticello UMC.
