Our theme and emphasis in the Kentucky Conference for the year of 2005 is "The Heart of Worship", as it is all about Him, our Lord Jesus Christ. We "worship" the Lord because He is "worth" it. Nothing else (No one else) is "worthy" of our "worship".
"You are WORTHY, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, and by your will they exist and were created" Revelation 4:11.
As we study the logo, we see "The Cross" at the very heart of worship. The Cross is the "crux" of our faith, as it is "crucial" and central in our worship, as we remember and celebrate that our Lord Jesus Christ died for the whole world, and that He is alive and in the world today!
When I began my work in the Corbin District two years ago (June, 2003), the Lord laid on my heart and mind I Corinthians 2:2 to be the emphasis of my ministry and leadership here:
"I determined (resolved, made up my mind) not to know anything among you except JESUS CHRIST, AND HIM CRUCIFIED."
This is why I wear the "wooden cross" around my neck every day and give so many of them away, to remind myself and others that we are loved and saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, as He poured out Himself for all of us.
This is the key for all of us to be purpose-driven as we are Person-driven by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is at the very "core" (Heart) of everything we say and plan and do.
Our Kentucky Annual Conference theme in 2003 was "Let Our Joy Be Known", as our emphasis was Evangelism and Outreach. Our theme in 2004 was "The Least of These", as our emphasis was Ministry and Justice.
We are simply doing what disciples do, as Bishop King leads us in the "5 Missional Paths", that we simply call 'FLOWS' - Fellowship, Learning, Outreach, Worship, Service.
Our theme for this Quadrennium (2004-2008) is "Growing a Christ-Like World", and we do that by living out the "5 Missional Paths".
In the years to follow, our emphasis will be "Fellowship" and "Learning".
