Devotion of the Week Matthew 10:42 speaks to our hears about the little things of life that are so important. "And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward." How would you love to live in a Palace and have servants at your command and have lots of Silver and Gold but be deprived of one of life’s simples needs? Water! Water is something that is very easy for us to serve to those that drop by to see us or help us with a work project. It doesn’t take much effort for us to serve a thirsty person when they are thirsty. Yet we live in a world where there are people that are very selfish.

Loyall, Ky.A lady was having a problem with her car over heating going up the mountain. She pulled into the country store and ask the owner for water to put into her radiator. She was refused one of life’s finest provisions. My thoughts were when I heard about this "that is terrible". Yet we meet people all around us that are crying out for us to meet their needs. We need to ask the Lord to help us to give people the "Water of Life." Sometime ago when my mother was in Berea Hospital I saw a man and lady go into the chapel. A tug on my heart told me I needed to go back and talk to the people but I was in a hurry to get back to my mothers room. I went down the hall a little ways & I was impressed to go back to the chapel. I entered the chapel & told the folks I was a minister but was not on call at that hospital. In fact I stated I wasn’t even dressed like a minister that day but I wanted to know if there was any water I could give them. They poured their hearts out to me and as I left the chapel I felt like I had given a drink of cold water to God’s Children.
A few weeks ago I was very ill but I was also very dry. My system was crying out for unsweetened grapefruit juice. I was so weak and I couldn’t find what I was looking for in that grocery store. All of a sudden I met one of our pastor’s wife’s and told her I needed her help! She took me right to the spot that I needed and my need was met. Giving a cup of cold water or grapefruit juice in the name of Jesus provides great rewards for us. "Thank You God for Little Things."
