Visioning/Planning Retreat
March 5TH at
Somerset First United Methodist

Pastors of the Corbin District, have you ever wondered how you can best get your congregants excited and motivated about the mission of the church? Do you wish you had a doable, time-effective, motivating, step-by-step method of invigorating your church in its God-ordained mission? What pastor hasn't struggled with these issues. This training event is for you and a few key leaders of your church! It is completely free of charge. You will learn how to take your church on a visioning/planning excursion that will motivate them for ministry in ways you might have never imagined and to do things you would never think of on your own.

On March 5, Clay Smith of the Hinton Rural Life Center will be at Somerset First UMC (Lower Fellowship Hall) from 9:00 a.m. to noon. At this training event, you will be able to learn how to take your congregation on a series of self-examination steps that will allow you to unleash the power of the laity in doing God-ordained outreach and congregational development. This event will motivate your congregants to identify exactly what they can do in their own community to witness to the love of God and the resurrection power of Christ. The beauty of this training is that it teaches your congregation to identify both the strengths of your congregation and the uniqueness of your community and bring these two together in creative mission. This is not a method for the church to give the pastor a laundry list of work but a way to motivate the church for the work of community mission. After coming to this event, you will be able to go back into your own church and lead a similar event

If you have any questions, contact Joel Allen at 678-4042 or cell 305-4953 or email (jallen@somersetfumc.org). I (Joel) wish I had known about this ten years ago - my ministry would have been much more effective. Every pastor should come to this training - especially you in the smaller churches. If you don't get your money's worth, you will get a full 100% refund. This is a training that is usable and effective in a church of any size - that is the beauty of it. I've served two very very small congregations and this would have worked beautifully in either one. No church is too small for this training. We will provide snacks and a light lunch before you walk out the door at noon. Please make plans to come. Contact the church office to let us know you are coming (678-4042).
