Corbin District Fund, Cumberland UMC

Story Bag Terry, Thank you and the district so much for the money, from the Corbin District Fund, to buy the Bibles and Bible Story books for the children of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. For the second year I did gospel illusions for the children. Last year only one child knew the real reason for celebrating Christmas, this year not one said they knew the reason other than Santa Claus came on Christmas. In the picture at the left, I am telling the story of the birth of Jesus and why He came to earth with what is called a story bag. The Story Bag really amazes children and adults, as well.

We had 42 people at the party with 20 of them being children. Depending on the child's age I either gave them a book of Christian Stories for Children or a Bible for young people, if older. I also told the story of the Candy Cane and gave out postcards with a picture of a Candy Cane and a real candy cane, on the back of the card was the times of the local Methodist Church services. group of children

All children and adults were invited to attend the services and especially the one the day after Christmas at our church. That morning Janey Feher, who happens to be president of the Ladies Auxiliary and is a member of our church, will be singing and I will be bringing the morning message. I think we will have some of these attend that day, they all know it will be my first ever Sunday morning service to do but they also know I have done lots of Sunday evening and Wednesday nights. I feel this was a great witness to the loss and especially in a VFW club, where you don't often see preachers going.

I admit when I was asked to join the Auxiliary I prayed about it for a long time, but then I thought, what better why to witness for my Lord and Savior and I think it has proven very fruitful.
