On March 10, the Rev. Eliseo Mejia, our Kentucky Conference Coordinator for Hispanic Church Development, came to London UMC to lead us in how to begin a Hispanic Ministry in Laurel County. It was a wonderful time of praying, sharing, and visioning as Eliseo led us in an informing/inspiring power point presentation.
The host Pastor, Wade Arp, and the Corbin District Superintendent, Terry Faris, also shared in the meeting. Rev. Glenn Cox, Pastor of Fellowship UMC in Pulaski County, and Rev. Jim Savage, Pastor of Whitley City UMC in McCreary County, were also present for the gathering.
Dr. and Mrs. Luis Cordero and their three children are active members of London UMC. Luis and Judy were both born in Puerto Rico, and have had a burden and a vision to begin a Hispanic Ministry in Laurel County. God always gives us the people we need to do His work, and the Cordero Family senses God's call to lead in this new and purposeful ministry. Praise be to God!
