On Monday night, the Tri-City Methodist traveled to the far country of Monticello. We departed about 3:15 pm and arrived at our destination at 6:15pm.
We were ready for the traveling gavel with our nine men and we retained the gavel by Having 1470 points. All told there were approximately 80 men in attendance, with 14 Churches represented.
After our evening meal, we gathered in the sanctuary and were entertained with a talk from Kentucky Joe. If you remember, he was a contestant on the TV show , "Survivor". He took us through all the important aspects of this venture. Everyone enjoyed his talk.
Even though the trip was a long one, the Tri-City bunch seems to have a way to offset long trips. We were fortunate that Marcus Ely brought along his boom box and had a Carl Hurley Tape that kept us laughing for a good portion of the way and singing gospel songs on the Way back.
Those making the trip were: Bob Barbus, Marcus Ely, Marvin Goins, Paul Graham, Barry Leonard, Bob Lunsford,, Hugh Webb, Mickey Webb and Hal Woods.
The Tri-City group continues to be one of the top groups in the state.
