We believe in the good work and ministry of our Kentucky United Methodist Foundation. We believe in being "methodical" in every area of our lives, as we live as trustees/stewards of God's blessings upon us.Praying (depending on God) and Planning (working with God) go hand in hand. As one wise person said: "Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is mystery, but Today is a Gift, and that must be why we call it the Present."
All of life is a Gift/Present from God, and we glorify Him when we handle well the preciousness of life. It is a personal joy to work with Bill Squires, the President of our Kentucky United Methodist Foundation.
On Sunday, Feb. 16 (ICE SUNDAY), Bill made the long trip to Covenant UMC in La Grange, to help us set up our Permanent Endowment Team, and now that is a vital and flourishing ministry in the local church. My wife, Judy, and I sensed God's call to update our will and name Covenant UMC as the beneficiary of 10% of our estate after our passing. God calls all of us into the future of ministry and service for Him!
As we began our ministry this summer as Corbin District Superintendent, it was a joy to discover that some of our Corbin District Funds are invested with our Kentucky United Methodist Foundation, and that some our churches (Harlan First UMC, East Bernstadt UMC, Barbourville First UMC, London First UMC, Sardis Chapel UMC, Middlesboro Covenant UMC) are working with Bill and the KUMF to strengthen their ministries as they plan and prepare for the future.
We commend to all our churches in the Corbin District and to all our churches in the Kentucky Conference, to be partners in ministry with our Kentucky United Methodist Foundation.
In Christ, Who is the Fount of every blessing,
Dr. Terry Faris - Corbin District Superintendent
