Lay Speakers Conference
The 2005 Lay Speakers
Conference will be held at Corbin
First United Methodist Church on February 18 & 19, 2005.
Lay Speakers are used in
many aspects of the ministry. Giving
service in many areas to your church to help your pastor’s. Whether it is by being a greater, helping
serve communion, working as an usher, or helping spread God’s word.
Basic Lay Speakers
courses are offered once per year and will give you a general over view of the
United Methodist Church and how you may help serve. This course is required
before attending the Advanced Course.
Lay Speaking Ministry
Witnesses to the Christian Faith by:
Helping start at new church school class; guiding bible study; serving
on committees in your local church; or reaching out with love in times of
crises. Annual reports on what you are doing in your life are files with the
conference.
Your instructor’s for
the Basic Course will be: Henry
Hull
Certified
Lay Speakers may serve in other
congregations and in conference projects and programs. To be certified you must
complete the basic course and complete the advanced course. Annual reports of what your participation
and how you continue to learn are needed.
A completion for re-certification is needed every three years.
This years Advanced Course study will be:
“A Study of “Science and Christianity:
Conflict or Coherence?” This is based upon a book of the same name by Henry
Schaeffer, Ph.D. and will be taught by, Dr.
William A. Caudill.
