The Corbin District Lay Speakers School was held at the Corbin First UMC on Feb. 18-19, with 25 trainees present from across the Corbin District. There were 9 persons in the Basic Course, which was taught by Henry Hull, Pastor of Friendship UMC. There were 16 persons present in the Advanced Course, co-taught by Dr. Bill Caudill of Somerset UMC and Dr. Glenn Blackburn of Science Hill UMC.
Bernard Shelton of the Somerset UMC is the Director of the Lay Speakers School, and his key helpers are Debbie Long also of the Somerset UMC, and Pat Colwell of the Macedonia UMC.
Notice all the young people in the group photo, who came for training this year. The persons in the leadership photo left to right are: Dr. Bill Caudill, Bernard Shelton, Henry Hull, Terry Faris (D.S.), Pat Colwell, and Dr. Glenn Blackburn.
It was a great time of fellowship and learning that helps prepare lay people to share their faith in Christ and lead in witness and worship across the Corbin District.
