Bishop King at "Promise Keepers"
Bishop James King and his 16 year old son, Bobby, joined with 15,000 men in Nashville at the "Promise Keepers" gathering (August 12-13). The theme of the weekend was "The Awakening," and it was truly a time of revival and renewal for all those present.
Over 50 men from the Corbin District area attended the gathering, and it was a joy for Terry Faris, Corbin District Superintendent, and Rick Nollman, Kentucky Conference President of United Methodist Men, to link up with Bishop King and Bobby on Saturday morning, for a reunion time with the men from the Corbin area and Henderson area of the Owensboro District.
When Kentucky was mentioned at the plenary sessions, there was more cheering and applause than from any other state. The men from Kentucky turned out for this good event, and next year, there will be a "Promise Keepers" gathering in Louisville (Sept. 22-23), and we are expecting hundreds of men to be there from our Kentucky Conference.
